Sunscreen Application

Weather permitting, GCDC students participate in outdoor play twice daily.  The first outdoor play period occurs before lunch  The second occurs after nap.  Parents are asked to apply their child’s sunscreen before school each day. Sunscreen may be reapplied by GCDC Teachers if a current permission slip is on file.  Permission slips can be downloaded here.

Other Sun Safety Tips

  • Cover your child up with protective clothing:  The type of fabric can make a difference in the way the shirt or pants feel and how they work to protect your child's skin. For more information visit this page.
  • Provide a water bottle for your child daily:  While water is available on the playground, children tend to drink more water if its available to them.
  • Provide sunglasses for your child:  Do your research.  Do not be tempted by "cute" sunglasses that provide little protection for your child. Instead, provide sunglasses that will protect your child from the sun. For more information visit this page.
  • Provide A Proper Hat For Your Child:   A hat with at least a 2- to 3-inch brim all around is ideal because it protects areas that are often exposed to intense sun, such as the ears, eyes, forehead, nose, and scalp. For more information visit this page.
