Annual Report

GCDC utilizes our annual report as a tool to assess prior year’s performance using predefined measures. The pages of this report highlight our efforts to not only meet defined standards of quality but also exceed them. The concept of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) is the concept that guides all of our work here at GCDC. Teachers plan and implement lessons that are built upon what we know about child development, what we know about each child and what we know about the cultures of the families we serve. Every aspect of our program must pass this rigorous test. Our success is rooted in our dynamic staff’s ability to achieve this goal.
Our success is also measured by the marks of quality our program has earned.GCDC is accredited by NAEYC and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). We earned the highest rating in the State’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). We also earned MSDE’s Health and Wellness Recognition and Asthma Friendly Child Care Recognition.
Our program’s success also comes as a result of the support of the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) community. This community demonstrates its deep commitment to our program through its volunteerism, provision of resources and celebrations of our coauthored success.
GCDC is undoubtedly one of Maryland’s preeminent early childhood programs. We work hard to ensure this is the case each day. While having all our success detailed between the covers of this report, the most significant indicator of our collective efforts is when we see the children run up to our doors each day. Their excitement and enthusiasm for what’s about to happen inside tells the story of our success and level of quality of care and education we provide. The pages of this report highlight our efforts to not only meet defined standards of quality but also exceed them.
